Affordable Clean Energy for everyone.
Clean energy is the incentive project which do not release pollutants into the air. WoGEM Uganda is working with other Civil Society organizations and their partners to make sure that clean, cheap, flexible energy is available and accessible to the vulnerable citizens by 2030 hence achieving the sustainable Development Goal (SDG7)
The overall objective of affordable clean energy is to empower women, girls, youth, vulnerable and indigenous people and local communities. (IPLCS) to transit from dirty fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal to clean energy especially solar, thermal, wind and hydro power.
To achieve this programme objective, WoGEM Uganda creates public awareness on the importance of investing more in solar energy than fossil fuels like oil and gas. People’s participation and involvement in solar policy decision making processes is very vital in realizing good governance in energy sector.
WoGEM Uganda, massively do research, advocacy, lobbying and this has created a great impact to the citizens to embrace transition to clean energy. WoGEM Uganda also empowers and establishes renewable clean energy community youth and women champion groups.
Also WoGEM Uganda has partnered with African Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO), and Environmental Shield in conserving and protecting the environment hence access clean energy.
Activities;
- Expand community engagement in transiting from dirty fossil fuels to clean energy.
- To engage communities to plant more tress to mitigate climate change negative impacts.
- To empower communities to fight the immense environmental degradation, and loss of biodiversity.
- Innovations for clean energy like briquetes to reduce on deforestation.
